Winkleigh Slate

Slate is a natural stone product which has been used for many years in construction work, the most obvious being roofing slate.

Winkleigh Slate & granite has been trading with the Chinese people for over 20 years to date, importing a range of different stone products. For the past 8 years we have built good relations with a family business based in Central China.

Mr Wang Cheng has worked within his family business all of his life and today, with his wife, Ane Wei, successfully runs the company.

Our original order was for one container, we now have 40-50 containers shipped across per year to keep up with demand. We regularly visit China in order to source new and sometimes unusual products and also to maintain a healthy and successful business relationship.

Also available: 16” x 8” and 20” x 10” Green slates - similar to Westmorland. We always have large numbers of slate held in stock however, we do advise you to call first to avoid disappointment.

Slate Cills

photo of slate cills We stock square edged slate cills in standard sizes of which, can be machined to specific sizes if required. The square edged cills are very often used for slate hearths as well.

11/4" Thick From 48" x 7" to 96" x 18"
2" Thick From 60" x 8" to 96" x 18"

Alternatively we can supply you with a profiled slate window cill complete with drip as shown below.

Flooring

Slate flooring is becoming increasingly popular with both new and older properties. There are many advantages to a natural stone floor, the main being it’s durability and its beauty.
